Author's Note

Complete eye transplants aren't feasible at this time due to the intricacies involved with reattaching the multitude of nerve fibers between the eye and the brain.

I believe, that with technological advances, and man's unquenchable thirst for knowledge, complete eye transplants, and/or stem cell growth to replace damaged or diseased eyes, will some day be common procedures.

Amaurosis fugax, or temporary blindness, is actually a condition that usually affects only one eye, and lasts for only minutes. It has to do with blood clots in the eye vessels and can be an indication of an impending stroke, or other vascular disease.

Paul's incident with the baseball, in actuality, would have been much more likely to cause a concussion, and a nasty headache. For the sake of a good story, I took some liberties with the truth.

Forgive me!

Writer's Summit Tip #16:

Make sure your editor is good at pointing out ambiguities in your text.

For example, "Tom, Dick and Harry went into the store. He bought a book."

Which "HE" is being referred to? This points out one of the many reasons authors can not edit their own books. Authors are just too familiar with the story line and have trouble seeing flaws like this. The author knows which 'HE' because he wrote him there. The reader, however, may not share the exact vision and needs some clarification.
